How does it work ?
The submission process is a 2 step procedure:
1 - Sending images to a DICOM server
2 - Sending clinical informations through this web site.
1 - Sending images to a DICOM server
DICOM images are sent directly to a DICOM server using a DICOM viewer or a PACS. If you don’t have a DICOM software allowing sending DICOM images remotely, free solutions are available for Windows and Mac OS systems. Regardless of the software used, parameters of our DICOM server must be entered. If you do not have IT support, please "contact us."
A fast internet connection is preferred. It is strictly needed when large files are to be sent (CT). DICOM images are preferred. However, the platform also accepts jpeg images.
DICOM software
For Mac OS X, the freeware
Osirix
can be used. Osirix is an excellent DICOM image viewer and can also act as PACS, allowing to send DICOM images to a remote server.
For Windows XP / Windows 2000, the freeware
K-PACS
can be used.
For Windows 7 / Windows Vista / Windows XP, the freeware
clearcanvas
or
Onis free Edition
can be used.
2 - Sending clinical information
Clinical information are sent through a dedicated form on this web site. Providing an adequate clinical history is essential to obtain pertinent conclusions on submitted images. Specific questions may be asked by the referring veterinarian that will not appear on the final report. DICOM images previously sent to our server are linked to the request. The request is then sent to the radiologist of your choice.
A final written report is generated by the radiologist and sent by e-mail as a pdf file. All reports are also available for review on the web site.
